Course Description:
Prerequisite: age 8 years by date of birth, or if younger successful completion Roscoe's Rangers course with an all around average score of 8.0 or higher, on advice of instructor.
Level 1 is a co-ed developmental class and is also the starting point in the ten-level Women's Developmental Program and is a broad spectrum of skill levels ranging from beginners to experienced gymnasts. Beginners train along side of more experienced athletes as part of the teaching strategy.  Intermediate skills are based on USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Level 1 Manual requirements.  Progressions required for more advanced skills (round-offs, back-bends, handstand holds, etc.) are emphasized in these classes along with basic dance skills, vault landing, balance beam, uneven bars, and flexibility, in a positive, structured, supervised environment.
Advancement to Level 2 is recommended by the instructor when the student successfully completes a mobility evaluation with an all-around average score of 8.0 or higher when attempting the Primary Skills listed below.  Recommended 1, 2, or 3 classes weekly.  USAG floor and balance beam routines required for eligibility to advance to Level 2.  This course also prepares young athletes for advancement to one of the Believe Competition Club should she desire to compete in amateur competions in the USA Gymnastics program.
